Punjabi Typing Test for Government Exams (Raavi Font)
Our online Punjabi Typing Test is designed to mirror the environment of major Punjab government exams like PSSSB (Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board), Punjab Police, and Data Entry Operator tests. These exams mandate the use of the Raavi Unicode font.
Raavi Font vs. Asees Font
Historically, Asees and Joy were popular legacy fonts. However, modern exams have shifted to Raavi because it is Unicode-based. This means text typed in Raavi is universally readable on the web and all devices, unlike legacy fonts which require specific installations to be viewed correctly.
How to Calculate Punjabi Typing Speed?
The standard formula used in Punjab exams (like PSSSB) typically follows the "Net Speed" concept:
- Gross Strokes: Total number of characters typed.
- 5 Strokes = 1 Word: The system standardizes word length to 5 characters.
- Mistakes: Often, exams deduct huge penalties for mistakes (e.g., 1 mistake might reduce word count significantly in some strict exams, though our tool uses the standard
Net WPM = Gross WPM - (Errors/Time)formula for general practice).
Practice Disclaimer
This tool is for educational and preparatory purposes. While we follow standard WPM calculation methods, actual government exams may have specific software interfaces and penalty rules (e.g., disabling Backspace) that vary by department. We recommend practicing with backspace enabled and disabled to be fully prepared.
